Narrative

According to the notes of Johannah Maria Obermeyer:

Johannah Maria was sent away to a war orphan program in Austria 2 months before she turned 13 (see the family story). She was sent to Tulln, close to Vienna. She was taken care of by an older family, they had some other kids, one of them was Sofie/Sophie/Sophia Göbl. Sofie was already married. In the birth record, Sofie is named "Gerlich", but her father is "Karl Hocker". Sofie did not have a birth certificate during marriage , she used her baptism, that was highly unusual. This probably means that Sofie was given the last name of the people that took her in, or perhaps she was even adopted. Wilhelm Gerlich was also a witness to the marriage. So that probably means that the family that Johannah Maria lived at was the family Gerlich. And that the father was named Wilhelm.

The family took good care of Johannah Maria, and she felt very loved. They even tried to adopt her officially when she was 16. But when that message reached her stepmom Katharina, she had to came back home to Germany. Johannah Maria was always annoyed by that.

Back in Germany, she worked for a car garage in Düsseldorf. Johannah Maria had her worst year there. Because you get hired for one year, she went away after one year from the garage to Polsum, she found work in Gasthaus zur Post. This was way better for Johannah Maria, she really liked that family. The father of the family was called Onkel Franz. For her birthday Onkel Franz bought her a nice golden watch for her 18th birthday. This watch was sadly broken after a fall, but the watch is still in the family.

When Franz got ill in the Netherlands, Johanna Maria went there to see him in a sanatorium. When she was there, she tried to get a job in Wassenaar. The was 21 at that time. She got the job and this is where she met Fransiscus Eijsackers, he came there as a greengrocer.
